About EquiTherapy Specialists

EquiTherapy treats your horses' body with the utmost respect, and connects to their soul.

Sheri Turchetta founded EquiTherapy Specialists with the intent to improve the well-being of all horses. She has been fervently passionate about  horses throughout her life. A fellow equestrian, Sheri is committed to reducing equine discomfort that originates from training, medical implications, injuries, senior health, and anxiety.

We aspire for our horses to perform at a certain athletic level. Muscle’s can become overworked, overused, and overstretched. The results are discomfort, limited range of motion, and unfavorable performance results.

EquiTherapy enables uninterrupted training as a team and simply encourages happy horses.

The most unexpected outcome of  EquiTherapy has been  the merriment it has brought to people  who view the awe-inspiring responses to EquiTherapy sessions!

Why EquiTherapy Specialists?

Overused, overworked and overstretched muscles underperform and are painful. Do you feel pain when sitting at a desk all day or working in a manual labor job that is physically intensive? Your horse's muscles and nerves are no different.

We rehabilitate soft tissue muscle injuries and reduce pain using specific neuromuscular therapy techniques on muscles, tendons, and ligaments to keep your horse at thier best.

EquiTherapy benefits are maximized when used as a preventative tool, and before or after a competitive event . The body responds to stress by producing a cascade of chemicals that harm tissues. EquiTherapy counters those damaging effects.

Stressful Events:

· Competitions & Events

· Trailering

· Environment Changes

· Rountine Changes

· Relocating

· Foal Weaning

· Sudden weather changes

· Injury & Illness

· Stall rest (Lack of socialization, change in routine, extended confinement, stiffening)

What Can I Expect From My Session?

When you employ EquiTherapy Speciailsts, you can expect customer-centric & personalized equine care based on their unique needs, circumstances, history, environment and riding discipline.

Process:

  • We will request that you please complete our ‘Client Treatment Form’. This gives us permission to treat your horse, donkey or mule.

  • We will provide you with an EquiTherapy Specialists Benefits Form.

  • Your horse will be retreived and placed in cross ties, loosely tied in a stall, or hand-held depending where they feel comfortable.

  • Your experienced certified therapist will sanitize their hands and begin the evaluation and session that can last approximately an hour.

  • Your ESMT will treat each muscle group systematically and thoroughly beginning with the poll, encouraging relaxation on the left side, working towards the tail. This process will be repeated on the right side.

  • The session is followed by 12 front and hind-end leg stretches. We encourage daily stretching to extend permanent results of treatment and accelerate recovery time. Stretching allows fluid to move between the muscle fibers therefore preventing adhesion, stiffness and reduced range of motion.

  • Post-session, your horse will be ‘Walked out’ for a few minutes. They may become stiff naturally from standing stationary for an hour.

  • Your horse will safely be returned to their stall, pasture or preferred location.

  • We will follow-up using your preferred communication method (text, email, messenger) with a muscle analysis report within 24 hours. This will provide a summary of each muscle treated and an action plan moving forward.
